Pixel Puzzles 2: Halloween is a Horror/Halloween themed jigsaw game in the pixel puzzle series. That provides players with 26 different jigsaws to complete within the said subject.

Although I like pixel puzzle games in general as the images used in the games are often, of decent quality and generally pleasant to complete. I feel that this game in particular is a step down in many senses. When it comes to the images featured in the game it isn’t completely fitting to the theme of the game. As the puzzles aren’t completely Halloween themed images. Instead, it’s a compilation of pictures that have an emphasis on horror. Most of the images are photography of various ranging from horror images of a doll through to pumpkin cookies and a few illustrations put in for good measure.

I feel let down as this game is more devoted to horror than Halloween. With regards to the images used I would have preferred more variety with a focus on Halloween centric images such as children in fancy dress going trick or treating which to me would have been more fitting. I feel that this game isn’t very good as I didn’t have the same regards for the player whilst playing it. Comparing this to when I played their other games you can at least say that they generally picked relevant images and tailored the game’s content towards one specific audience.

Another thing that I’m not too ecstatic about is the difficulty of the puzzles of the game. I think that it is quite easy in comparison to a majority of the other games in the series as most of the images are 220 pieces or less. This makes the game a bit too easy for me. Whilst I think that it is ok for casual gamers who play games like this every now and then.
Personally for me I can complete a jigsaw of these sizes in a few minutes. This is like a majority of the other games in the series you have no difficulty options so you only get 1 jigsaw size for each puzzle with no option for less/more pieces. Which I don’t like as it provides no option for extra challenge. It does make the game less suitable for children and others who would struggle on the difficulties offered.

I also think that this game feels really weird game to play on as the general ambience of the game. This is because it doesn’t have any real background music during game play. But rather background music that is noises which are commonly used in horror films such as shrieking.

Despite this, the game features an eerie music box track that plays continuously on the main menus. If there was background music in the game I would have probably thought a bit more of it. But what is used in game is neat for those who like horror themed sound effects. However, when you’re trying to do a jigsaw peacefully it is a bit bizarre to listen to screaming randomly.

Overall I generally cannot recommend Pixel Puzzles 2: Halloween as it is too easy to play on. But yet at the same time it isn’t a game that I would advocate that children should play on. If you like Horror/Halloween then I will highly recommend this game. If I was to get it I would only get it when the game is on sale. Due to the fact that after you have completed it once odds are you won’t be playing it again.
