Alice in Wonderland – Hidden Objects Review

Alice in Wonderland – Hidden Objects is a hidden objects game that is based on the novel Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland.

Alice in Wonderland - Hidden Objects Conversation

The story that this game is based upon has a poor delivery in game. The story of this game is represented in the gameplay through a hidden object scene or a minigame. Each part of the game is based upon what is going on in the story. However, the story of this game progresses through conversations held between the characters. I like how the character avatars used in game are the original illustrations by John Tenniel. To further the authenticity of the game, it even uses quotes from the original story. I don’t like how there are no voiceovers whenever a character speaks.

Alice in Wonderland - Hidden Objects Jam jars

The gameplay for the hidden object side to this game is straightforward and easy to play on. Unlike other like minded games by this developer this game is easier to complete the scenes on. Namely because there are no hidden puzzles in order to create an item. In this game it is a case of finding the items you require. In each hidden object scene you are provided a list of item(s) that you need to find. On many instances after completing a list of items on a scene, you will return to it to continue with more items to progress the story. This game does predominantly use hidden object scenes as a way of playing the game.

However I feel that some of the scenes are pointless. Taking one scene in particular in which you are in a pantry and have to find jam jars. I felt this scene was silly in it’s delivery. Since in  you have to pick out every single jam jar there is along with a few other items. I didn’t like this as I figured out that I would end up picking up every jar. Yet I couldn’t do it, until the game said I could.

Alice in Wonderland - Hidden Objects Sliding Puzzle

On the other hand the minigames in this game haven’t got much on offer. The games themselves are basic and annoying. The instructions for the minigames have reused the instructions from the jigsaw minigame. I found this out as I read the instructions for the games. It should have at least changed jigsaw to the relevant game name. I also found that some of the minigames are clunky to play on. I found that the slider puzzles in particular are challenging. This is because it is frustrating as you cannot move pieces easily. On many instances I found that it difficult to slide the tiles horizontally. This problem also affects sliding tiles up/down. This is equally as challenging as it doesn’t work until after many attempts at moving a piece.

Alice in Wonderland - Hidden Objects Cards

With regards to accessibility of this game. I generally found the game to be very easy to pick up and play. This game does provide instructions on how to play the game that are easy to understand. The game does also provide options in the minigame’s to make them become easier. The first hint is available after one minute if you are struggling on a minigame. The game will show you the solution of the minigame. It is even possible to skip a minigame entirely after 3 minutes. I like this as it makes the game very accessible to children and casual gamers. However, I don’t see why it is obligitory to complete the hidden object scenes. Since both gameplay styles should have the same level of assistance on offer.

There are also some translation issues with this game. One example of this is on a card minigame as bits of it are still in French. In particular the bottom of the screen where it shows you which line to place cards in. On the bottom of the screen it says R (Roi) and D (Dame). This game should have translated into K (King) and Q (Queen).

Follow the white rabbit

I feel that this game isn’t generally worth playing on. This game is too short and has little to no replay value. Whenever you have completed this game, there is little to no replay value on offer. However, I feel that if you are in need of a cheap hidden object game. Especially if it is for a child or an Alice in Wonderland fan. Then it it may be worth looking at it in a sale.
