Dot to dot puzzles is a digital puzzle book in which players solve dot to dot puzzles. While many people may believe this is a children’s game. This isn’t the case because the game offers pictures that are difficult, long and complex. However it is ok for children to play on. However they would probably struggle without help at some of the more complex pictures.
Whilst this is essentially a digital dot to dot book it is quite basic and does what it says on the tin. There are plenty of things about this game that make it stand out. In particular the plethora of themes such as mandalas and landscapes which is cool.
However due to the subjects that the game is about it feels like a more grown up dot to dot game. This is because, unlike most dot to dot games there is little to no child centric images present in this game. To add to this the game can get difficult as some of the puzzles have over 1000 dots to connect. Even though when completed is quite rewarding when you see the fruits of your labour. To top this off you get to see (and customise) what you have done. You can even save a picture of your work. It can even be turned into an animation of your image being created.
However I feel that this game is visually basic as it is a line based game. Personally I would have liked the option to fill in the lines with colours because it would look cooler. It would make the game look more modern too. Particularly because the art style I feel is reminiscent to that of a game from 40 years ago. As when I was playing the game it felt like I was playing a game from the 1980/90’s rather than playing a game from 2018.
Technically I also feel that the game doesn’t do something’s quite well. Particularly because as it is quite fiddly at times as you have to move a lot across the screen from one section to another. You also zoom in and out a lot which is bad. It would be better if you didn’t need to move around constantly. This would be better as you could do the puzzle on one page without any messing around. When I did some of the puzzles some of the dots do overlap. I think that the dots should be clear so it is accessible by all. As I would imagine those with limited sight/children might get confused with where they should be clicking.
Overall I feel that this game is worth trying since it is free after all. However I wouldn’t spend a penny on buying any of the DLC for this game. At least until you need to unlock all the pictures in game. However there is also DLC that gives you more colours to use. I would also skip the rest of DLC (a star booster pack and a hint booster pack). As the booster packs offers no new content to the game. The booster packs just unlock items faster. However a majority of people will get bored of the game. Primarily due to the incessant grinding and not consider playing after a few hours.
