Halloween Patchwork Trick or Treat Review

Halloween Patchwork Trick or Treat is a digital jigsaw game that is based around Halloween. The game is also available on various digital platforms, including Bigfishgames. As expected, this review is based on the Steam version.
Content-wise, the port offers no new content. This is disappointing, since there are in-game achievements that should have been Steam achievements. I also suspect that the game was once a mobile/App Store game. The game lets players use in-game coins to buy hints/unlock new levels, like many other games by this developer (such as Mosaics Galore). I think that if it were on a mobile platform/App Store, the game would have had the option to pay for coins with real money.
The game does try to have a story, but it is only a comic book scene of a witch and monsters at a party. In it, a pumpkin from a character’s head lies in pieces on the floor, as seen by the partygoers. Then the witch decides to cast a spell to turn it into a whole pumpkin. After the intro scene, the story isn’t continued.
The gameplay is like most other games of this style. It’s a gentle game that isn’t very hard to play. As expected, the difficulty increases as you progress. However, I think some level requirements may be a bit difficult for some players. This is mainly because, to get points, you have to complete the objectives for each puzzle. Some players may struggle with certain main-game levels.
However, free-play levels offer a laid-back approach. I like that they included this mode. This mode offers a gentler experience for those who need it. This game is essentially Alice’s Patchwork in a Halloween costume. In this game, most pictures relate to Halloween, such as pumpkins. But, some images don’t belong, such as an autumn scene or sweetcorn. As this is a Halloween game rather than an autumn game, it is a little out of place. Even though I don’t dislike the images used in the game, I think that the game should stick to Halloween instead of featuring autumnal images.
I also don’t think this game really makes you feel excited for Halloween. To me, this game is just a jigsaw game with Halloween images. I feel the in-game music lacks variety and doesn’t fit Halloween. I feel that this game could be a lot better with the correct adjustments, but it isn’t really what I expected. This game left a sour taste in my mouth because I expected something that would get me excited for Halloween, but it didn’t. This game also seems to be a carbon copy of other games by the same developer. I feel this game is an asset flip for the reasons above. Consequently, you should avoid this game.
