Pixel Puzzles 2: Space Review

Pixel Puzzles 2: Space is a space themed jigsaw game in the Pixel Puzzle series. In which you get 26 different jigsaws to complete. With jigsaw puzzle sizes ranging from 60 to 350 piece jigsaws.

Whilst I like the pixel puzzle games in general. This game I feel is poor for many reasons. Firstly you have the images themselves, even though the images in question fit into one subject matter. I feel that the images are quite dull at times. One example of this is 350 piece jigsaw of a rocket. Whilst the centre piece on this puzzle is the rocket. Once you have done the rocket itself, the surrounding pieces are of structure that supports it. Whilst this is the toughest jigsaw puzzle in the game it should be a challenge rather than a chore. After so long I felt that puzzle was uninteresting. As there this puzzle has too much structure on it, with no variety to separate each section of the puzzle.

Thankfully it isn’t common but there are a few puzzles in this game that are like this. I would say only 4 of the jigsaws are boring. Since the puzzles mostly consist of a couple of different sections with one section having few but very similar colours. But generally I like the images particular the images have distance shots of earth. As well as the more colourful images featuring planets and the cosmos.

To make this game appear different to many of the other pixel puzzles. This game does have a mini game included in the game. The mini game is a collection game where you collect all the floating rocket pieces in the sky and place them into rocket(s). The pieces themselves have a few different purposes biased on what you want to do with them. Primarily the purpose of the parts is to build a rocket that is to be built in the bottom left corner of the screen. Even though you can drag the pieces to do the intended task.

Alternatively you use the rocket pieces to place into 3 different mini rockets nearby that will provide you with a hint. However if you do this it is impossible to completely build the rocket unless you restart the puzzle. Personally I thought that this little game is silly and just adds an extra few minutes on the game. Other than the achievements I felt no need to pick up the rocket pieces.

Another thing that I’m not happy about is the difficulty of the puzzles in the game. I feel that on some puzzles that it is trial and error biased on who is playing. Whilst I think that most players will find it easy. I feel that some playing this game will possibly find it challenging. This is because of colours used or lack of variation on certain puzzles.  I also don’t like that a majority of the other games in the series you have no difficulty options. As a result of this you only get 1 jigsaw size for each puzzle with no option for less/more pieces. I don’t like this as it provides no option for extra challenge or less challenge. So it is less accessible for children and others who would struggle on the difficulties offered.

Pixel Puzzles 2: Space Planet

Overall I generally cannot recommend this game as it is a jigsaw game that I don’t think too highly of. However if you have an interest in space/astronomy then I would suggest getting this game. Since this game is really only meant for space/astronomy fanatics. But do get this game on sale. Primarily because after you have completed it once there is nothing new to see or rewards for coming back.
