Masked Shooters 2 Review

Disclosure:I was given Masked Shooters 2 by a steam friend rather than the developer however I don’t do biased reviews.

Masked Shooters 2 Is a FPS game where you play against other players/computer AI in a deathmatch/team deathmatch arena.

Whilst the trailer for this game advertises the game as an action packed game. What the advert doesn’t mention is that the game footage used in the trailer appears to be purely against AI. Since when you could play online there was mostly AI playing rather than people. The names provided in the top left corner are AI names in offline mode. Whilst it may be possible to find someone the last time I looked there were 4 servers with 3 ‘people’ on each server (excluding myself of course). The majority of the players who are ‘in game’ are AI characters. However it doesn’t help people playing online whilst not logged into steam/other platforms are provided with the name shooter with a random number of players assigned. But, the online for this game is no longer an option unless you have friends to play this game with.

The game itself is quite easy since you don’t have to do any running around for any resources. From the start you automatically spawn with every weapon in game. all of the weapons used in game are the same old weapons found on most other games such a pistol and assault rifles. Although one thing I did notice is that the ballistic knife in game isn’t ballistic. Instead it operates as a melee knife. I was disappointed at this because I expected the ballistic knife to be what the game says it is.

The game is also quite easy to play on. Purely because the AI in the game is stupid as they have no plan of what to do. The AI often runs around the map and is unaware to their surroundings. One example of this is when I camped in a watchtower. When I started shooting them they didn’t realise that I’m there even though I did shoot them multiple times. This makes the game very easy to play on particularly if you’re playing against the AI. This is also on team deathmatch the AI team mates don’t do much. Generally they will go off and their own things regardless as to what is going on round them. The team AI also doesn’t help you or other team members if attacked.

There are a limited number of maps to play on in game. There are 3 maps different maps 2 of which are modern military compounds. Even though there is some variation between the 2 compound maps. They are too similar as it is the same assets on both maps. The variations between the two maps are where assets are positioned on the map.  As a result it feels uninspired as the 2 maps are too similar with little variation between them. There could have been at least a bit more variation between the 2 maps. Overall these maps are dull and uninteresting with no real redeeming value in them.

The final map in the game is a roman colosseum which is the largest map in game. This map is an open arena with individual spawn areas,a crowd area(for camping/shooting at those in the arena). There is even a portal that leads to another small arena. But I feel that if the visual setting was a modern arena rather than a colosseum. Potentially it might have been of relevance, even if this map is mediocre.

Thankfully the game isn’t too long as the game length per round is 8 minutes long. However if your objective is to complete all the steam achievements it takes a few hours to do.  This is because most achievements are based around grinding. After you have done this there isn’t much content available on offer to entice you to keep playing the game. Content wise the game is very basic and could have been significantly better.

Overall I wouldn’t recommend buying Masked Shooters 2 under any context as there are better games available. The only time I would recommend playing the game is if someone gifts you the game. Even then it is purely to farm the steam cards and get a quick perfect game on your steam account.
